I found out I couldn't afford any of the new posters that I liked! This has never happened to me before. It seems that movie poster stores have decided to make as much money as they possibly can on this summer's movies posters. Original movie posters for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are selling for anything from $49.99 to $99.99. That is if you can find one of them. They seem to be selling faster than a penguin sliding down a glacier.
And what about the Joker posters for the Dark Knight movie. These original posters' prices shot up after the talented actor Heath Ledger, who is playing the Joker in the film, tragically passed away earlier this year. When those posters first appeared online before Mr. Ledger's death, their prices where ranging anywhere from the low end of $15.00 to the high end of $24.99. The usual going rate for a new movie poster. Right after Mr. Ledger died, the cost of these posters shot up to from the low end of $49.99 to the high end of $129.00! I totally hope that Mr. Ledger isn't spinning in his grave at the profiteering that is being made from his death.
I have been crushed. I have been priced out of any hope of buying either of the original posters for two of the hottest films of the Summer of 2008. I understand that these posters are popular, but I don't think in all my years of collecting movie posters, have I seen such blatant overpricing of new movie posters. I sure hope this doesn't happen later this year for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie original posters. I'll have to mortgage my house to keep buying the posters to finish my set. Oh, the times they are a changing. For the worst!
